Chinese New Year is a very important traditional Chinese holiday and huge celebrations are going on to commemorate the first full moon of the year. It is not technically 2009 according to the tradition - it is either 4707, 4706, 4646 (the year "1" is sometime within the reign of Huangdi). ANYWAY, what this means for Chinese, Koreans, Mongolians, and those living in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore & the Thailand (among others) is a festive parade, fireworks, meeting up with friends and family for dinner, and even exchanging gifts.
According to Chinese horiscopes, today marks the entry of the Year of the Ox. Your Chinese horiscope is based upon your birth year - I am a Dog sign. (All signs are animals). If you want to know more about how your "sign" fares in the Year of the Ox, check this out! (It's kind of fun)
