Mid-year resolution

Mid-May is not your typical time to make resolutions. Heck, it's almost June! But I guess you can call this a mid-year resolution. It's easy to get "in the groove of things" - get up, eat breakfast, go to work, eat lunch, come home from work, make something quick for dinner, veg out, go to bed - and then do it all over again for 4 more days until the weekend's here. Then you have 2 glorious days of non-habitual behavior before you start it all over again.

I know I'm in a rut when dinner starts to suffer. When we get take-out more than I cook ... that's a problem. And when I do cook it's easy go-to recipes like steak sandwiches, spaghetti, and grilled chicken with veggies.

I love trying out new recipes & expanding my culinary horizons. That's why I am making this mid-year resolution - to try new recipes and add some variety to the dinners that I cook during the week. This morning I picked out 3 recipes from the past 3 Cooking Lights (aka the ones that haven't been torn up & put into my binder yet). Here are the new recipes I'm going to try this week:

- Ranch Steak Bruschetta Salad
- Chicken Breasts with Mushroom Sauce
- Sesame-Orange Shrimp/Chicken Stir Fry

I'll let you know how they are! (And - to keep me accountable - I'll post what I'm making next week!)
